Automatic gravity sand filter (Self-cleaning gravity sand filtration tank) – attached with lamella clarifier is commonly used in the existing water treatment systems. The automatic gravity sand filter is operated on a principle of water permeability through a filter material layer. Water is supplied to the filter with a pipeline into the filtration device.
Clean water is penetrated through the filter material layer, and dirty impurities in water are retained on and in the filter material layer. Quartz sand is used as a filter material that meets the best filtration process.
The backwash process takes place when impurities in water are large and they create obstacles from water purification process. Difference in vacuum pressure in siphons will push all dirty water out from siphons. At the end of the backwashing process, the material is completely cleaned, and it is rearranged to ensure the best water filtration
